Surprising Ways to Make Money as a Stay at Home Mom

If you're a stay at home mom, you might be feeling like there's no way to make money. Well, guess what? There are actually plenty of ways to earn extra cash as a stay at home mom. Some require some time and effort on your part, while others don't take much more than clicking a button. Either way, it's worth exploring each option (and trying them out if they sound interesting) because every little bit helps!

Monetize your hobbies and talents

It's important to note that not every hobby or talent can be monetized, but if you want to try it out, here are some ideas:

  • Selling handmade items – If you have a knack for sewing or knitting and enjoy making clothes for your kids, consider selling these on Etsy or a craft site like Craftsy. You can also sell homemade accessories like headbands and bows using the same sites.

  • Blogging – If there’s something that interests you—whether it’s parenting advice, recipes or interior design tips–turning your knowledge into an online blog could help bring in some extra cash. Not only will this keep your mind sharp by forcing you to write often (which research has shown can counteract memory loss), but it will also allow people who would otherwise never know about your talents and hobbies an opportunity to learn from them!

Start a blog

As you can see, there are plenty of ways to make money as a stay-at-home mom. Starting a blog is one of the best because it gives you the opportunity to become your own boss and follow your passion. If you like writing and enjoy sharing your life experiences with others, starting a blog might be a good fit for you.

With that said, here's what I would recommend for someone looking to start their own blog:

  • Choose the topic of your blog carefully—it should be something that interests YOU! Don't choose something just because it sounds easy or popular because this can cause burnout later on down the line. Instead, think about what really matters most in life and focus on those topics when creating content for your site. For example, if we had started our parenting website earlier on in our journey instead of just focusing on entertaining articles (what we did at first), then perhaps I wouldn't have burnt out so quickly after giving birth like I did back then...but enough about me! (Sorry guys).

  • Build up an email list early on so that people interested in following along can sign up without having any social media accounts yet created themselves yet either (which makes things easier). This will allow them access straightaway without having any kind of distractions; however if they want updates more regularly than once per day then try adding another platform like Twitter which allows short updates throughout each day rather than long ones at once such as Facebook does."

Become a virtual assistant

Virtual assistants are a popular choice for stay at home moms who have to balance the demands of motherhood and a career. If you're an organized person with good communication skills, the job could be perfect for you.

There are two kinds of virtual assistants: administrative and executive. An administrative assistant handles clerical work like filing papers and answering phones, while an executive assistant tends to focus on more complex or technical tasks such as managing calendars and scheduling meetings.

For example, if your boss needs someone to make travel arrangements or schedule appointments during work hours (for free), they could hire a virtual assistant to do it instead of hiring someone else full time. This saves money while still getting professional results—an ideal situation!

Become a tutor

You can tutor people in almost anything you know. Maybe you're a whiz at math, or maybe you're a natural artist and know how to teach others the basics of painting in oils. It doesn't matter what your subject is—if there's a demand for it, then there's money to be made as a tutor.

The great thing about tutoring is that it gives you complete control over your schedule and hours, which means that if having time with your family is more important than having any other job, this might be the best option for you! You will need patience and an upbeat attitude when working with kids though—and if they don't want to learn something then they won't!

Teach online classes

First, you need to have a topic people are willing to pay for. You also have to be good at teaching it. Finally, you need a platform that can help you market and teach your class.

You'll have to search around and see what kind of classes are currently out there. Are there any that you could teach—either on your own or as part of a larger organization? If so, is it worth the investment in time and money?

Some platforms available include Udemy (https://www.udemy.com/), Skillshare (https://skillshare.com/us/) and CreativeLive (https://creativelive.com/).

Sell on Etsy

A great way to make money as a stay at home mom is by selling on Etsy. Etsy is an online marketplace for handmade goods, vintage items, and many other crafts. You can sell anything from jewelry to baby clothes. Here are some ideas of things you can sell on Etsy:

  • Handmade goods

  • Crafts

  • Artwork

  • Vintage items (old books, toys) or memorabilia (vintage records)
